MemGauge

Your Mac's real memory health at a glance — and which apps are using it. Honestly.

What it does

The real health signal: memory pressure

A big "used" number isn't a problem — modern macOS is supposed to use your memory. What matters is memory pressure, and MemGauge puts it front and center: a green/amber/red pill in the panel, and a menu-bar icon tinted by pressure so you can see health without clicking anything.

An honest breakdown

Used vs. total exactly as Activity Monitor counts it, with a segmented bar — App, Wired, Compressed, Other, and Cached Files — plus swap when it's in use, and a rolling usage chart of the last couple of minutes.

Which apps are using it

A live list of your apps sorted by memory, with icons. Click one to bring it to the front so you can decide whether to quit it. (Browsers show their main process only — a sandboxed app can't see helper processes, and MemGauge tells you so instead of pretending.)

No snake oil

No "free up RAM" button — on modern macOS those do nothing useful, and often make things briefly worse. MemGauge shows you what's true and leaves you in control.

Stays out of the way

Menu-bar only — no Dock clutter, no windows to manage. Launch at Login and forget it's there until you need it.

Private by design

No account, no sign-in, and no network access at all — nothing about you or your Mac ever leaves your device. No tracking, no analytics, no data collection. Fully sandboxed.
