Keep your Mac awake

Two independent toggles — keep the system awake (long downloads, renders, backups, remote sessions) and keep the display awake (presentations, dashboards, monitoring). Uses the system's own power-management APIs; flip a toggle off and it releases immediately.

Keep your external drives spinning — done properly

Many external drives spin themselves down after a few idle minutes, regardless of your energy settings. Wakeful adds a drive once, then performs periodic real disk I/O to keep it awake — genuine writes, not a fake "touch" the OS can ignore. Each drive gets its own switch and a live status line. Self-healing across unplug/replug. This is a core feature — included, not a separate in-app purchase.

Stays out of the way

Menu-bar only — no Dock clutter, no windows to manage. Open at Login for an always-on Mac. Per-drive status and a simple activity log.

No account, no sign-in, and no network access at all — nothing about you ever leaves your Mac. No tracking, no analytics, no data collection. Sandboxed: Wakeful can only touch a drive after you explicitly grant it, and only that drive.
